Description

How urea in the cream works

Urea is a natural component of the skin. It is part of the skin’s natural moisturising factor (NMF), which is how the outer layer of the skin binds and retains water. In the cream it works the same way: it binds water in the skin and helps keep it hydrated.

The effect of urea depends on its concentration. Low concentrations work mainly as a moisturiser. Higher concentrations soften hardened skin and have an exfoliating effect, which is why they are used, for example, on heels and elbows. Our cream contains 2% urea. At this concentration urea works mainly as a moisturiser, without the marked keratolytic effect typical of higher concentrations. We use urea in the cream for its moisturising effect, which is why the cream is suitable for daily use on the face.

Urea cream for oily and combination skin

Urea creams are most often used on dry skin of the body, hands and feet. Our cream has a light texture and is intended mainly for oily, combination and problem facial skin that needs hydration.

Oily skin also needs water and can be dehydrated at the same time: it looks shiny, but lacks water. If, after cleansing, you care for it with a moisturising cream, you do not stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce excess sebum, as aggressive drying does.

If acne keeps appearing despite proper care, see a dermatologist. With acne-prone skin, the cream can be used as part of supportive care and as a complement to regular acne treatment.

Who the cream is for

  • oily and combination skin, even if it is dry in places,
  • problem skin prone to acne,
  • oily skin that lacks hydration,
  • as a base under make-up all year round.

For dry skin we recommend the Nourishing cream, for extremely dry skin, Super elixir.
