As a fresh graduate from the Faculty of Medicine, I wanted to be a psychiatrist. Fate led me to the dermatology department, where I watched in silent amazement how the skin can affect a person’s psyche. Because putting your skin on display, especially when it’s not in good condition, is no laughing matter, and I realized that I would need at least the basics of psychotherapy. After returning from Vienna, where I worked with patients in the terminal stages of skin cancer and with patients showing advanced symptoms of AIDS, I accidentally got a whiff of laser treatment, which marked the beginning of a new era in my professional life, and I started focusing on aesthetic dermatology. With all the technical advancements and new techniques for injectable applications, I longed to offer my clients home care that was as close as possible to my ideals: with the lowest potential for skin irritation, containing truly effective substances, and being affordable. I was inspired by the era of medical cosmetics in Slovakia, which began in the 1960s. Special recipes, based on the knowledge of experienced dermatologists, followed the motto “less is more.” This means that the less chemistry used, the lower the risk of irritation and allergies. Behind traditional recipes were names like Professor Hegyi, Ing. Traubnerová, and Prim. Bohunská. Over the years, my interest in developing creams grew in direct proportion to the satisfaction of our customers. Inspired by new technologies from world congresses, we gradually added ingredients like vitamins and hyaluronic acid to our creams. The result is today’s unique cream, which clients have been satisfied with for over 13 years. When our pharmacy production capacity was no longer sufficient, we found a factory with a laboratory for the production of medicinal products to collaborate with. Dr. Sandra cosmetics is manufactured under strict conditions based on good manufacturing practices, controlled by a quality system, just like medicines. It contains no plant extracts or fragrances, as we adhere to the principle of minimizing the risk of allergic reactions. My cosmetics have never been and will never be tested on animals because we have been long-time supporters of Animal Freedom. The quality is verified not only by us but also by the satisfaction of our clients. Many of our clients were willing to travel dozens to hundreds of kilometers from distant places and send their acquaintances and close friends for the unique packages of Dr. Sandra cosmetics. We decided to respond to our clients, bringing our products closer to them. Just as they were willing to find their way to us, we will now find our way to them and bring cosmetics directly to their homes. Our clients certainly deserve it. And why the name Dr. Sandra? Don’t always look for a woman behind everything; sometimes it’s a man. It was my husband who gave me the courage to enter the business environment and offer cosmetics to a wider audience than just the clients of my clinic. He also came up with the name Dr. Sandra. 🙂
